equips disciples for a life of service and outreach to expand the kingdom of God.
Unpaved Ministries works along side local congregational pastors and youth leaders in equipping students to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with their communities through acts of service and love in Jesus’ name.
When [Jesus] looked out over the crowds, his heart broke. So confused and aimless they were, like sheep with no shepherd. “What a huge harvest!” he said to his disciples. “How few workers! On your knees and pray for harvest hands!” MT 9:35-39
What We Bring to the Table
Passion: [un]Paved Ministries has assembled a team whose heart is set on sharing the Word of God. The men and women in this organization have often made a career choice to share Jesus with the youth in their community and beyond. Others have decided to take time away from their daily jobs to spread the Gospel in their local communities and would now like to share their gifts and talents with a larger audience. No matter what vocation these individuals find themselves, they each have a passion for reaching the lost and fulfilling the Great Commission.
Production Experience: [un]Paved works with professional production organizations to ensure an un-matched level of excellence. From the Audio to the Video and Lights, unPaved strives for an experience that is engaging and exciting for the senses.
Music: [un]Paved has chosen the 211Band for most of their events. This up-and-coming group has been playing for four years as the worship team at Room211, Lincoln, NE. The band has recorded two albums and performs throughout the region. This group of musicians has a passion for sharing the message of Jesus. At various unPaved events, district gathering, and even at the LCMS National Youth Gathering in New Orleans, the 211Band proved to be a highlight of the weekend. However, [un]Paved is not limiting itself to the use of this musical group only.
Love for Jesus: In all this team does, it is our love for Jesus and our commitment to His ministry which compels us to undertake this ministry adventure. The Holy Spirit has laid on our hearts the desire that even more may come to be imitators of Jesus and be servants to their neighbors.
Inspiring Speakers: The speakers selected for unPaved events are among the best in the Church. These presenters have committed their hearts to working with youth in local congregations. In addition, they are in demand throughout the country at district gatherings as well as at the national level, many having spoken at the National Lutheran Youth Workers Conference, the National LCMS Youth Gathering and other similar events.
Serving as a Church Planter in the North Dallas Area, Travis Hartjen started off as a Youth Minister where he served for over 10 years. During that time, He has had the opportunity to speak to schools, youth gatherings, conferences, and training workshops across the nation. He is very excited about the opportunity to start a church that will not only feed those who know Christ but will be effective in connecting with those who don’t know the amazing love and freedom found only in Jesus. His Wife and four children currently live in Frisco, TX where they are building a community to launch the church.
Minister to Youth and Families at Immanuel Lutheran Church in St. Charles, Missouri Leon Jameson has been serving youth for over a decade now (yowza) and seriously loves this calling. Leon speaks regularly to teenagers and adults throughout the US. He is happiest when spending time with his wife Gretchen and daughter Sydney Grace. When away from ministry you can find Leon riding on his lawn tractor, wrestling with his Golden Retriever Bailey, and collecting M&M dispensers. Leon’s mission is to live for Jesus, leading others to do the same.
Jeffrey grew up in Farmington, Missouri, graduated from Concordia University (Seward, Nebraska) in 1996 and served a 10 year call to Walcamp Outdoor Ministries in Kingston, Illinois. He now serves as the Director of Youth and Family Ministry at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Jeffrey is married to Amy and they have six children.
Sarah (Trinklein) Salzberg graduated from Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska and currently serves as an Old Testament teacher at Lutheran High School of Orange County in Orange, California. She’s more of a newbie in ministry with this being her third full year in teaching, but everyday, she is thrilled to be a vessel for the Holy Spirit to use His Word to fuel the faith of her students. She and her husband, Josh, live in Los Angeles, CA, which may sound fancy, however, it probably just means she spends more time in traffic than everyone else. The traffic doesn’t bother her too much, but her favorite seasons are winter and fall which are non-existent in a “70 degrees and always sunny” state.
Micah is a youth minister near Denver, CO where he resides with his beautiful wife Amanda, spunky daughter Madison, and his soon to be born (and yet to be named) son. Micah enjoys serving on the board of Unpaved, speaking about the hope he has in Christ to students, and making people laugh as a member of the comedy group, These Guys. Micah has a theology degree from Concordia University, Seward, NE, and while his bio picture is not that impressive, he is proud to have more hair then both Leon and Jeffrey
Leah has been doing ministry with teenagers for over 13 years and in that time has discovered a passion for helping teenagers and leaders figure out who they are and consider who they are going to be. She graduated from Concordia University in Seward Nebraska and spent 11 years serving as a DCE in Florida. Currently Leah is Student Ministries Lead at a church in beautiful Denver, Colorado where she lives with her daughter Amelia and her husband Scott. Leah loves great music, cooking, being outdoors, and a good cup of coffee.

“Lord of Life had the privilege and opportunity to participate in the Unpaved event in Lincoln last fall. Our youth and adults just loved this event. It focused on the saving message of Jesus Christ and gave us the opportunity to talk about how we could reach out to others in love. The weekend helped the youth realize ways they could serve in their own communities, churches, and schools, by simple actions and by being a light of Jesus to others. The youth also appreciated being able to chat one on one with the speakers. The speakers cared about each youth and took the time to chat with them and even mentioned them on stage, which of course made our youth beam from ear to ear. This event is worthwhile; it has a lot of heart, soul, and full of hope in the saving grace of Jesus.”

“I recently attended an unpaved ministries conference at Our Father Lutheran Church in Denver,CO. I met many amazing people at the conference. I was anxious to learn about our Heavenly Father, and I was curious about how it could become easier for me to share my faith with others. I am a talkative person, but I was still worried about saying something wrong when I would tell someone about Jesus. un paved ministries helped me so much that I am now looking forward to becoming a D.C.E when I grow up!”
This all depends on the district sponsoring the event. We have seen prices ranging anywhere from $50 to $150. Contract the event host to find out more registration information.
unPaved has an integrated program which utilizes the talent of all our speakers, bands and AV providers. Because of this, we only have approved personnel for events. We have been able to make exceptions, but this is done on a case-by-case basis.
There are many factors involved in cost. These include venue considerations, travel distance and schedule. A typical package includes 2 keynote presenters, a 3 person comedy team, a 4-6 person band, and a production team of 3-7 people, depending on the venue. We will create a “turn-key” quote for your event with no surprises. Please contact us to request a quote for your event.
In short, unPaved Ministries creates content and resources. This content is available to districts and organizations, via one of our production partners.
For example, many district youth gatherings have a mass event component. unPaved Ministries creates content, trains speakers, approves bands and works with production companies to produce Mass Events for your gathering. This comes as a “turn-key” package which includes a theme, graphics, theological studies, presenters, comedy team, band, video, sound and lighting. This can be customized to work with your event. Typical unPaved packages included 4 x 1.5hr. mass events.
If you are also in need of break out presenters, unPaved does some breakouts for youth, as well as adult leaders, but please consider making yours an “Amped” event. Learn more here!
unPaved Ministries has begun a granting program to aid districts who may be trying to start an event. These are typically awarded to districts who do not have an established event. This is a one time start-up grant. Please contact us for the application process.
